J-K: Baramulla Police Holds TII Naka Response Drill on Baramulla-Chandoosa Road

Baramulla Police on Wednesday carried out a TII Naka response rehearsal along the Baramulla-Chandoosa Road to assess security preparedness and improve the effectiveness of response mechanisms across the district, officials said. The drill was conducted to evaluate the readiness of police personnel in a simulated security scenario and examine how effectively teams respond at naka points, where security personnel conduct checking and interception as part of routine preventive measures.

Officials said the exercise also focused on assessing coordination among personnel involved in naka duties and identifying areas where operational procedures could be further strengthened. The Baramulla-Chandoosa corridor remains an area of regular police surveillance and security activity. As part of recent security reviews in Chandoosa, authorities have examined arrangements including CCTV coverage and accessibility. Police have also reviewed whether SIM vendors are following prescribed procedures for maintaining subscriber information and carrying out customer verification.

The latest rehearsal comes as security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir continue to place greater emphasis on intelligence gathering, surveillance and strengthening naka and interception systems. During a recent security review in Baramulla, IGP Kashmir Sujit Kumar called for stronger intelligence generation at the grassroots level, continued operational preparedness and improvements in naka and interception mechanisms, according to police-related reports.

Baramulla Police has also conducted joint contingency exercises involving multiple security and emergency-response agencies. On September 13, a response rehearsal was held at Baramulla Railway Station under the supervision of the SP Operations. Personnel from SOG Baramulla, CRPF, Army, BSF, RPF, GRPF, SDRF, Fire and Emergency Services and medical teams participated in the exercise.

The railway station drill focused on inter-agency coordination, rapid mobilisation, communication, evacuation procedures and emergency management. Such exercises are designed to test existing response systems, improve coordination between participating agencies and identify operational gaps that can be addressed before an actual emergency or security incident occurs.
