The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has advised Indian nationals living in Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant and refrain from sharing videos or unverified information related to attacks on airports in the kingdom. In its advisory issued on October 8, the embassy urged Indian citizens to follow instructions from Saudi authorities, exercise caution and rely on official sources for updates on the security situation.
The warning against circulating videos comes amid concerns that unverified footage and misleading reports shared on social media could create confusion and spread unnecessary panic during a sensitive security situation. The embassy also said that Indian nationals requiring assistance could contact the relevant Indian mission in Saudi Arabia. Consular services through the embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah were reported to be operating normally when the advisory was issued.
The situation drew further attention following subsequent reports of an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on October 10. According to The Indian Express, the incident left one Indian national dead and 10 others injured. The embassy said it was coordinating with local authorities and hospitals to assist those affected. Indian citizens residing in the kingdom, including workers, students and business travellers, have been advised to monitor official announcements and follow local safety instructions. Travellers should also check with their airlines for updates before heading to airports.
The embassys message highlights the importance of responsible information-sharing during emergencies. Authorities recommend avoiding the circulation of unverified videos and relying on official channels for accurate information. Indian nationals needing consular assistance should consult the latest contact details published by the Indian Embassy in Riyadh or the Consulate in Jeddah.
