By 2028, nature lovers will have more places to explore and enjoy the outdoors. One of the exciting new locations is the Mandai Mangrove and Mudflat Nature Park, which will be located around 3km east of the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. This park will offer elevated views of the wetland and coastal trails, complete with bird hides for wildlife observation.
In addition, the Bukit Batok Nature Corridor, connecting Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and the future Tengah Forest Corridor, will undergo enhancements. This will include improvements to the existing Bukit Batok Nature Park and Bukit Batok Town Park, as well as the development of the Bukit Batok Hillside Nature Park. The National Parks Board (NParks) announced these plans on January 22, with the work set to begin in 2026 and finish progressively by 2028.
NParks revealed that Mandai Mangrove and Mudflat, one of Singapore's most biodiverse wetlands, will be conserved as a nature park. The 72.8-hectare park will be part of the Sungei Buloh Nature Park Network, which includes other key habitats like Kranji Marshes and Jalan Gemala, aiming to preserve the biodiversity of wetland areas in northern Singapore.
The Mandai Mangrove and Mudflat Nature Park will feature two main areas: the Sungei Pang Sua node with an observation tower providing views of the wetland, and the Sungei Kranji node, offering views toward Kranji Reservoir Park. Coastal trails will connect both nodes, with bird hides placed along the way to allow for unobtrusive wildlife observation.
Meanwhile, the Bukit Batok Nature Corridor, announced in December 2020, spans more than 125 hectares and includes a 10km trail. The park's trails and amenities will be enhanced to better support wildlife movement and biodiversity. The Bukit Batok Nature Park will also get a new entrance with a designated drop-off point and shelter, along with new play areas and exercise plazas for families.
For those entering from Bukit Batok Avenue 5, the Bukit Batok Town Park will feature a new arrival node. Other upgrades include improvements to existing trails, enriching the overall recreational experience.
Additionally, the Bukit Batok Hillside Nature Park, a previously closed-off area, will be redeveloped with new trails and an arrival node. NParks will also work on enhancing the existing stream within the park, improving drainage and preventing erosion, while allowing visitors to engage with the park's ecology.
