Congress MP Randeep Surjewala Moves Rajya Sabha Notice, Seeks Immediate Debate Over Alleged Misappropriation of Ram Temple Donations

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala on Thursday filed a notice under Rule 267, urging the Upper House to suspend its scheduled business and hold an immediate discussion on allegations of financial misconduct involving the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. In the notice submitted to the Rajya Sabha Secretary-General, Surjewala requested that the Chair prioritise the matter over regular legislative proceedings, arguing that it requires urgent parliamentary attention and government accountability.

According to the notice, devotees from India and around the world donated thousands of crores of rupees to the Trust through individual, collective, and anonymous contributions, motivated by their faith in the Ram Temple project. Surjewala alleged that reports of misappropriation, embezzlement, and misuse of donations represent a serious breach of public trust. He claimed that if the allegations are true, they amount not only to financial wrongdoing but also to a betrayal of the faith of millions of devotees who contributed to the temple.

The Congress leader further stated that recent claims of corruption and financial irregularities linked to the temples construction and donations have raised serious concerns. He alleged that attempts are being made to shield those responsible by focusing on lower-level individuals while protecting the key figures involved.

The notice also pointed to alleged irregularities in land purchases made by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, saying these transactions involve significant sums of money and deserve detailed discussion in Parliament as a matter of national importance. Surjewala urged the Rajya Sabha to take up the issue on priority, arguing that the allegations warrant a transparent debate and a thorough examination of the management of donations received by the Trust.
