Chennai home reveals more horrors after woman's body found in train to Agra, probe leads police to Odisha

A murder investigation has expanded from Chennai to Odisha after human remains were found inside a trolley bag on the Tamil Nadu Express at Agra Cantonment Railway Station, prompting police to trace the suspected movements of two people. The case came to light on August 5, when railway authorities discovered a red trolley bag containing decomposed human remains in a general coach of the Tamil Nadu Express. Investigators subsequently worked to establish the identity of the deceased and determine where the suspected killing had taken place.

Police identified the deceased as 38-year-old Hidayath Nisha, an Odisha woman who was reportedly working in Chennai. The investigation gained momentum after Nisha’s son filed a missing-person complaint with police in Guduvancherry. Investigators began examining her movements and reportedly reviewed CCTV footage from Chennai Central railway station. According to the investigation, CCTV footage showed a man and a woman carrying a red trolley bag at Chennai Central before boarding the Tamil Nadu Express on August 3. The footage became a key lead in tracing the suspected route of the remains.

Police subsequently searched a residence in Guduvancherry, where they reportedly recovered additional human remains. The discovery led investigators to intensify their efforts to identify and apprehend the people believed to be connected to the case. Three special police teams have reportedly been formed to trace the two suspects. Investigators used mobile-phone data to track their movements, with the trail allegedly leading towards Odisha.

Police teams have since travelled to Odisha as part of the search operation. The investigation is currently focused on establishing the exact circumstances surrounding Nisha’s death, the role of the suspects and how the remains were transported from Chennai to Agra. CCTV footage, mobile-phone records and forensic evidence are expected to play a crucial role in reconstructing the sequence of events. Police have not yet disclosed a definitive motive, and the investigation remains underway. Further details are expected as investigators continue their search for the suspects and examine evidence recovered from Chennai and the railway route.
