Bangladesh national Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, the man accused of stabbing Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, reportedly planned to flee to his home country following the attack. Fakir allegedly broke into Saif Ali Khan’s residence on January 16, intending to rob the actor, and stabbed him multiple times during a confrontation.
After the attack, Fakir intended to travel to Howrah, near Kolkata in West Bengal, and then proceed to Bangladesh to escape the authorities. However, his escape plan was thwarted when he realized the police were tracking him. In his rush to arrange travel to Howrah, Fakir faced difficulty obtaining a train ticket due to the last-minute request, and travel agents demanded extra money.
Before he could finalize his travel arrangements, Mumbai Police arrested Fakir in Thane. The police are now investigating the travel agents he contacted for the ticket as part of the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan, who underwent a five-hour surgery at Lilavati Hospital after suffering multiple stab wounds, was discharged on Tuesday. He was accompanied by his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, as he returned home. The actor is recovering, with doctors advising him a week of rest to avoid infection, and additional security measures have been implemented at his residence in Bandra.
