On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organised a blood donation camp at the District Hospital in Ramban, where personnel from the 84 Battalion participated to encourage voluntary blood donation and help strengthen blood supplies for patients in need. Commandant N Ranbir Singh of the CRPF’s 84 Battalion said that over 10 volunteers from the unit donated blood during the drive. He stressed the significance of regular blood donation and appealed to healthy young citizens across the country to contribute to blood banks.
Singh noted that the initiative aimed to raise awareness about the life-saving impact of blood donation, stating that a single unit of blood can help save up to three lives. He added that donated blood is essential for patients undergoing surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, as well as for accident victims and emergency cases. Emphasising the importance of maintaining sufficient blood reserves, he urged people to donate voluntarily so that blood remains available whenever needed. He also pointed out that blood donation offers health benefits, including supporting heart health and aiding weight management.
Speaking about the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, Singh said that security and medical arrangements are being intensified in the Ramban region, a key transit route for thousands of pilgrims heading to the shrine. He stated that additional personnel from various agencies would be deployed during the pilgrimage. He further said that CRPF medical and paramedical teams, along with necessary medicines, have been kept ready to respond to emergencies during the Yatra, assuring that assistance would be available to anyone in need.
