Banaskantha/Mehsana, April 30 (AHN) Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Jagdish Vishwakarma on Thursday said that recent electoral outcomes in the state reflected public endorsement of development-oriented governance and criticised the Congress for what he described as attempts to defame the country abroad.
He was addressing two separate party programmes held in Banaskantha and Mehsana districts, where newly elected representatives and party workers were present.
At the ‘Banas Vijayotsav’ programme held at the district BJP office, Vishwakarma said the party’s performance in local body elections was the result of sustained organisational effort and voter trust.
He stated, “At 2025 booths in Banaskantha, BJP workers fought day and night without rest, as a result of which BJP won the District Panchayat after 31 years.”
He added that the mandate reflected support for the government’s development model.
“In more than 90 per cent of institutions in the state, the people have given a clear and massive majority to the BJP, thereby supporting development and Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
Referring to governance in Gujarat, Vishwakarma said the state had moved towards what he called development-based politics.
“Prime Minister Modi has given Gujarat a politics of satisfaction instead of appeasement,” he said, adding that under Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s leadership, the cooperative sector had strengthened significantly, with the Banaskantha dairy model contributing to the national dairy movement.
A key focus of his remarks was criticism of the Congress, which he accused of engaging in political activity that harms India’s reputation internationally.
He said, “The public will never forgive Congress for its politics of defaming the country abroad.”
He also said voters had rejected caste-based political narratives in Banaskantha and expressed confidence that such trends would continue in future elections.
In a separate programme held in Mehsana, Vishwakarma addressed newly elected public representatives and reiterated that the electoral mandate reflected public trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said, “This victory belongs to the 6.5 crore people of Gujarat, this victory is of development, and this victory is of public trust in Prime Minister Modi."
Vishwakarma also referred to the party's electoral statistics, stating that "BJP had secured a strong performance across municipal corporations, district panchayats and taluka panchayats", which he attributed to organisational strength and booth-level mobilisation.
"Party workers remained engaged with the public throughout the year, not only during elections," he noted.
