Bhopal, April 7 (AHN) Framing an outreach push around social harmony and grassroots mobilisation, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Madhya Pradesh government has announced a week-long programme calendar from April 8 to April 14 to mark the birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar.
The decision was conveyed by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav during a meeting of the Council of Ministers, where he directed a decentralised implementation strategy extending beyond district headquarters to the block level.
The state-level event will be held in Bhind, while ministers-in-charge have been assigned responsibility for district-specific planning and monitoring, according to a press note from the state government on Tuesday.
It stated that the initiative is being positioned not merely as a commemorative exercise but as part of a broader governance outreach, with district administrations tasked to design locally relevant programmes.
The government stated that preparations regarding the event are currently underway, with detailed schedules for district and block-level programmes expected to be finalised shortly.
It is important to mention that the Madhya Pradesh government is establishing an ‘Ambedkar Dham’ including a memorial of B. R. Ambedkar in Gwalior.
The government has recently sanctioned an amount of Rs 20 crore (in two phases) for the project.
The facilities being constructed at Ambedkar Dham include a digital library, museum, auditorium, and conference hall along with a large library, according to an earlier statement by the Madhya Pradesh government.
This is the second memorial of Ambedkar in Madhya Pradesh as the first one was established at his birthplace Mhow in Indore.
A grand memorial has already been established at Mhow, where an annual Ambedkar Kumbh is organised on his birth anniversary.
In a parallel move, the government has outlined a longer-term social agenda by announcing statewide social harmony programmes to be conducted until March 31, 2027, marking the birth anniversary year of Sant Ravidas.
The back-to-back announcements signal an attempt by the state government to integrate commemorative events with sustained social messaging, particularly around inclusion and harmony.
