Morena’s Kailaras sugar factory to be restarted: CM Mohan Yadav

Morena, Sep 4 (AHN) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday announced that the Kailaras Sugar factory in Morena district will be restarted, saying the move will help farmers get better returns for their produce and strengthen their economic condition.

Yadav was addressing the 'Balram Krishi Mahotsav' virtually from Sehore. He said the government was working to increase farmers' income by promoting advanced agricultural practices and allied activities such as dairy farming. "The Kailaras Sugar Factory will be restarted. This will enable farmers in the region to secure better returns on their produce and strengthen their economic status," Yadav said.

He said efforts would be made to increase milk collection through dairy cooperatives in Morena, providing farmers with an additional source of income. The Chief Minister also announced that 'Gita Bhavans' would be constructed in every Nagar Panchayat of Morena district, including Morena city, to provide citizens with facilities for study.

Yadav said Morena was a leading producer of wheat, paddy, oilseeds and pulses and urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural practices. He said efforts would be made to provide 10 hours of daytime power for agricultural activities. The state has received the national first prize in the horticulture sector, he said, adding that a plan was underway to provide solar pumps to 30 lakh people.

The initiative would help farmers reduce electricity costs and facilitate irrigation, he said. "Farmers should adopt dairy farming and cow rearing as an additional source of income," Yadav said, adding that 2026 was being observed as 'Kisan Kalyan Varsh' in the state. He said farmers were being provided credit at zero per cent interest and the repayment period for Kharif and Rabi crop loans had been extended from six months to one year.

Yadav further added that the state government is focusing on increasing production and productivity, improving quality, reducing costs and ensuring better prices and incomes for farmers.
