Maha: Rohit Pawar visits student protest site in Delhi

New Delhi, July 24 (AHN) Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MLA Rohit Pawar on Saturday visited the protest site of the Cockroach Janata Party in the national capital to express solidarity.

After meeting protest leader Abhijeet Deepke, Pawar extended his full support to the movement, launched sharp attacks on the Central government, and demanded the impeachment of the Chief Justice of India (CJI).

He also strongly condemned the police action and alleged lathi charge on student protesters.

Addressing the media, Pawar highlighted the nationwide resonance of the protest, describing it as an inclusive satyagraha against systemic failures.

“This satyagraha began following the NEET paper leak, and this is my first visit to Jantar Mantar for this cause. Students, parents and veterans have all gathered here, demonstrating that pressure is building on the government. I met with Abhijeet bhau to reiterate our support,” Pawar stated.

Taking a direct swipe at the judiciary, Pawar expressed disappointment over recent remarks made by the CJI, claiming they undermine democratic principles.

“While we hold complete faith in the institution of the judiciary, the recent statement by the CJI of the Supreme Court was deeply unfortunate. We respect the constitutional post of the Supreme Court, but we no longer trust the individual holding the office of the CJI,” Pawar remarked.

In addition to demanding the removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Pawar urged Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to initiate constitutional action.

“Since the CJI is speaking against democratic values, I request Rahul Gandhi to initiate an impeachment process against him in Parliament,” he added.

Pawar also lashed out at the Delhi Police over their handling of the demonstrations and the alleged violence against peaceful protesters, particularly women and students.

He alleged a deliberate attempt to frame young protesters, claiming, “Vehicles damaged before July 20 were brought to the site to falsely accuse the youth of vandalism. There is a strong apprehension that similar tactics might be repeated today or tomorrow.”

Criticising the police personnel involved, Pawar questioned their integrity, asking, “Do you not have sisters at home? Acting solely to protect political leaders is the work of blind followers.” He condemned the police for resorting to lathi charges on female students and peaceful demonstrators.
