Jaipur, Feb 21 (AHN) With no other nominee for the post emerging, Rajasthan unit BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Madan Rathore is all set to become the state head again, a party source said on Friday, adding an official announcement is likely to be on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Rathore filed his nomination for the position on Friday, with key party leaders, including Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, acting as proposers.
Rathore's nomination was backed by five proposers namely CM Bhajan Lal Sharma (First Proposer), former CM Vasundhara Raje (Second Proposer), former state president Dr. Arun Chaturvedi (Third Proposer), Jaipur district president Amit Goyal (Fourth Proposer) and national council members (Fifth Proposer).
Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has been appointed as the election officer for Rajasthan unit BJP's state president election. On Friday, all five proposers submitted Rathore’s nomination before Rupani at the BJP state office.
According to Vijay Rupani, the deadline for filing nominations ended at 4.30 p.m. on Friday, and Madan Rathore was the only candidate to submit nominations.
After the scrutiny process, his appointment will be officially declared on Saturday morning.
With no other candidate in the fray, Rathore's election as Rajasthan BJP State President is now a certainty. The final declaration will be made during the official announcement.
Along with the state president election, 25 National Council members will also be elected from Rajasthan. These members will participate in the election process for the BJP National President.
The party high command has appointed state in-charge Radhamohan Das Aggarwal as the central observer, while Vijay Rupani continues as the election officer overseeing the process.
Rathore's unopposed election highlights strong party consensus and signals a new leadership era for Rajasthan BJP. The official confirmation is expected on Saturday at 11 a.m.
