K’taka Legislature approves Rs 7,042.69 crore supplementary budget estimates for 2026-27

Bengaluru, Aug 24 (AHN) The Karnataka Legislature on Monday approved the first instalment of supplementary budget estimates amounting to Rs 7,042.69 crore under the Karnataka Appropriation Bill for 2026‑27.

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar tabled the supplementary estimates in both Houses of the state legislature.

Of the total amount, Rs 4,324.35 crore has been earmarked for revenue expenditure, while Rs 2,718.35 crore has been allocated for capital expenditure.

The supplementary estimates include a grant of Rs 289 crore under the Jaladhare programme, with Rs 1 crore allocated to each rural Assembly constituency to provide drinking water to people affected by drought.

Another Rs 1,000 crore has been earmarked as infrastructure capital for road development in Bengaluru city.

The proposal also includes Rs 2,918 crore for the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar scheme and Rs 781 crore for Bharat Jodo Youth Clubs.

An allocation of Rs 708 crore has been made under the AMRUT scheme, while Rs 193.61 crore has been provided towards modification of the motor vehicle tax equity share for Road Transport Corporations.

The supplementary estimates further include Rs 152.72 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, Rs 93 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), and Rs 91 crore for the Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam.

A grant of Rs 96 crore has also been allocated for the purchase of buses by the Karnataka Kalaburagi Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC).

Another Rs 738 crore has been earmarked for various other projects.

The supplementary budget estimates were approved by both Houses of the Karnataka Legislature.

It can be recalled that former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presented his record 17th state budget for the financial year 2026‑27 on March 6, 2026. The total budget outlay stood at Rs 4,48,004 crore, reflecting a 13.3 per cent increase from the previous year’s revised estimates, alongside a projected revenue deficit of Rs 22,957 crore.
