Davanagere, April 2 (AHN) BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra has said that the party’s victory is certain in both constituencies where by-elections are being held. He also claimed that the Chief Minister is nervous.
Responding to media queries on Thursday, he said how the BJP’s victory would impact others is their internal matter and asked people to wait and watch the political developments that would follow.
Replying to a question about Basangouda Patil Yatnal campaigning for the BJP, he said that if it increases Veeranna Charantimath’s lead, it is welcome. He added that the BJP has already won in Bagalkot and that even Congress members are helping them. “I had said earlier that anyone who comes forward to support us is welcome,” he said.
He expressed confidence that Davanagere South would witness a historic BJP victory. He said that minorities there have realised that the Congress is deceiving them and that the BJP candidate would win. He added that with the hard work of party workers, the BJP would hoist the victory flag in both constituencies.
State BJP Backward Classes Morcha President R. Raghu Kautilya has alleged that the most backward communities in Davanagere have been deprived of the benefits and facilities they are entitled to from the government.
He made these remarks while participating in the by-election campaign in Davanagere South constituency, during a padayatra in Wards No. 6 and 8, where he addressed members of various backward communities.
He said that communities falling under Categories 2 and 1 constitute a significant portion of the population in Davanagere. However, apart from the release of a few lakh rupees from MLA funds to some of these communities, no serious efforts have been made so far to provide them with the benefits they deserve from the government. He added that even through the corporations meant for these communities, proper implementation of schemes has not taken place.
He said these issues came to light during their visits and alleged that there has been no economic support to strengthen occupation-based communities.
He further stated that students from backward communities have not received benefits such as scholarships, hostel facilities, or financial assistance for higher education.
Similarly, unemployed youth have not been provided with loan assistance to take up self-employment.
In addition, he said it is unfortunate that no adequate efforts have been made to provide housing sites and shelter to families from these communities who have been living without proper homes for decades.
He alleged that the Congress party and a single family that has represented the constituency have kept these communities under their control, preventing their political and social awakening.
He expressed confidence that these awakened communities would stand united in the by-election and play a decisive role in ensuring a massive victory for BJP candidate Srinivas Dasakariyappa.
He added that Davanagere South would witness the victory of democracy and that the BJP candidate representing social justice would pave the way for the 2028 Assembly elections.
