'He is psycho, can order my killing from even abroad': Complainant on Abhishek Banerjee's interim protection

Kolkata, Aug 11 (AHN) Abhijit Das, the petitioner on the basis of whose complaints FIRs were registered against Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, on Tuesday called the latter a "psycho" while alleging that he might "order to get him murdered even during his foreign trip".

Das' allegation comes after a single-judge Bench of the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday granted interim protection from coercive police action, including arrests, to Banerjee in three more cases registered against him by the West Bengal Police.

The state police had registered a total of 16 cases against the Trinamool MP, of which interim protection was granted to him earlier in 13 cases.

Speaking to AHN, Das, who is also a BJP leader, said: "We, the residents of Diamond Harbour, are well aware of the atrocities committed during the Trinamool's regime. I have been attacked three to four times due to which I had to get multiple stitches and even get a metallic plate inserted in my leg. All this was ordered by him (Abhishek)."

"This is why my counsel had stated during the hearing that I can get killed and therefore asked for protection," he added.

Das said that he had filed 17 complaints against the Diamond Harbour MP and that the FIRS were lodged on the basis of 10 to 12 of them.

"I was attacked in December 2018 when I was the (BJP) district President; when I tried to file an FIR, it was not registered...so what should I do? If I have been subjected to such atrocities, then one can imagine what the public must have faced," he said.

On Banerjee being permitted by the Supreme Court to travel abroad for three weeks for medical treatment of his eye, the complainant claimed: "Given how dangerous he (Abhishek) is...I think he is a psycho, so it is possible that he may order to get me killed even from abroad."

However, Das stated that he is not scared while alleging: "He (Abhishek) thinks that I am his only enemy, so he can do that."

Moreover, he claimed that his CISF security was allegedly removed after he filed a petition at the Calcutta High Court. "My life is now at risk due to this. He is a criminal-minded person. I am not scared to die, but then the case will get stalled," Das added.
