Patna, June 18 (AHN) A shocking case of alleged sexual assault and extreme brutality against a woman in Bihar’s Begusarai district has triggered widespread outrage, with police launching an intensive investigation and search operation to apprehend the accused.
According to an official, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Chakiya police station on the night of June 11.
The woman stepped out of her home to use the toilet when she was allegedly intercepted by five men, who forcibly dragged her to a secluded location, tied her hands and legs with her clothes, and gang raped her.
Moreover, the accused inserted a cartridge, wood and a sharp-edged object in her private part.
The victim was initially taken to a hospital in an injured condition on June 11 and discharged the following day. However, after her pain intensified five days later, she was admitted again for medical examination in the Sadar Hospital.
Family members claim that subsequent tests and an ultrasound examination revealed objects inserted inside her private part, which doctors later removed during treatment.
The woman’s family has also accused the local police of failing to respond appropriately and sending them back home when they first attempted to lodge a complaint. They further alleged that some of the accused had previously tried to sexually assault the woman around three months ago, but no effective action was taken at that time.
Following the emergence of the case, Begusarai police have initiated an investigation using scientific and forensic methods. The victim’s statement has been recorded, and special teams have been formed to identify and arrest those involved.
Anand Kumar Pandey, the DSP of Sadar Begusarai, said continuous raids are being conducted to apprehend the accused and assured that any police personnel found negligent during the investigation would face strict action. He stated that if negligence is revealed, strict action will be taken against those responsible.
Meanwhile, Begusarai Civil Surgeon Ashok Kumar said a team of female doctors headed by the Deputy Superintendent of Sadar Hospital has been constituted to examine all medical aspects of the case. He added that the exact circumstances surrounding the medical findings will become clear only after the committee submits its report.
Despite several days having passed since the alleged assault, none of the accused have been arrested so far. Police officials say they are relying on the victim’s statement, medical evidence and forensic findings to identify those responsible.
Authorities have assured that the accused will be arrested at the earliest and that efforts will be made to ensure a speedy trial. Meanwhile, the victim continues to undergo treatment at Sadar Hospital under medical supervision.
