Bihar: Two youths trapped on a rock as water flow intensifies at Kaimur's Manjhar Kund waterfall

Patna, Sep 1 (AHN) A tense situation unfolded at Manjhar Kund waterfall in the hills in Bihar's Kaimur after the water flow suddenly intensified, leaving two young men stranded on a high rock for nearly three hours.

The incident caused panic among tourists at the popular waterfall, as the two youths found themselves surrounded by rapidly flowing water.

With the current becoming increasingly strong, they were unable to climb down and remained stranded on the rock until the water level eventually receded.

Tourists at the site recorded videos of the incident.

The footage shows the two youths standing on a rock while water rushes around them from several directions.

The current was reportedly too strong for anyone to approach them and attempt an immediate rescue.

According to eyewitnesses, rainfall in the area caused the water level at Manjhar Kund to rise suddenly.

People at the site reportedly warned those near the waterfall to move to safer ground.

The two youths, however, could not get out before the water flow intensified.

As the current rose, they climbed onto a higher rock to avoid being swept away.

An eyewitness, Rajiv Sharma, said he had visited Manjhar Kund with family members and relatives when he noticed several young people making social media reels near the waterfall.

According to him, two young women who were also filming near the water managed to move away before the water level increased.

The two young men, however, became trapped near the waterfall.

Tourists repeatedly called out to the youths and urged them to move to safety, but the water flow intensified within a short time, leaving them with no safe route down.

The youths reportedly remained on the rock for around two-and-a-half to three hours.

As the strong current surrounded the rock, they were unable to descend safely.

Tourists watched from a distance while some recorded the incident on their mobile phones.

Eventually, after the water flow subsided, the two youths were able to climb down from the rock and reach safety.

Their safe return brought relief to the tourists who had been watching the situation unfold.

Tourists who were present also alleged that the two youths had consumed alcohol, although this was a claim of the people and was not independently confirmed.

Another eyewitness claimed that similar incidents frequently occur at Manjhar Kund and raised concerns about the alleged availability of alcohol in the area.

He urged the administration to examine the matter and strengthen safety measures at the waterfall.
