Bihar: 5 minor girls go missing from Begusarai shelter home

Patna, July 27 (AHN) A highly sensitive and alarming incident has come to light from Bihar’s Begusarai district, where five minor girls have gone missing under suspicious circumstances from a government-run girls’ shelter home in the Ratanpur police station area, an official said on Monday.

The disappearance has triggered panic within the administration and prompted an intensive police search operation.

According to officials, the five girls were found missing on Sunday morning, after which the shelter home authorities immediately informed the police. The district administration treated the matter with utmost seriousness and issued an alert across Begusarai.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Manish personally visited the shelter home to review the situation. He questioned the warden and other staff members to determine how the girls managed to leave the premises and whether any foul play or conspiracy was involved.

Police have constituted special investigation teams to trace the missing minors. Search operations are underway in and around the district, while CCTV footage from the shelter home and nearby areas is being examined for possible leads.

Investigators are also relying on technical surveillance and digital evidence as part of the probe. The district police are working in coordination with the District Child Protection Unit and the Child Welfare Committee.

Search operations have been intensified at railway stations, bus terminals and other locations where the girls might have travelled. Officials said the safe recovery of the five minors is their highest priority and that every possible angle, including negligence, abduction or planned escape, is being investigated.

As of now, no breakthrough has been reported regarding the whereabouts of the girls. The incident has also raised serious concerns over the security arrangements and monitoring mechanisms at the shelter home.

Police officials expressed confidence that the missing girls would be traced soon and assured that appropriate action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
