Itanagar, Aug 5 (AHN) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) on Wednesday said the state has made remarkable strides in development over the years and reaffirmed that Lok Bhavan would continue to remain accessible to citizens, students, entrepreneurs, artists, farmers and representatives of civil society, reflecting the institution’s commitment to public outreach and inclusive governance.
The Governor inaugurated the new Governor Secretariat Building at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar on Wednesday. State Chief Minister Pema Khandu and senior officers of the state government were present on the occasion.
Dedicating the building to the people of the state, Lt Gen Parnaik (Retd.) said that Lok Bhavan truly belongs to the people of Arunachal Pradesh. He emphasised that the institution serves as a platform for dialogue, cultural exchange, youth engagement and public outreach, bringing governance closer to the people.
He called upon the people to regard Lok Bhavan as a house of the people, dedicated to serving the welfare and progress of every citizen of Arunachal Pradesh.
He added that every visitor to Lok Bhavan should feel a sense of pride and ownership, as it represents the collective hopes, achievements and rich cultural heritage of the state.
Appreciating the excellent quality and architectural grandeur of the building, the Governor said that Arunachal Pradesh is steadily setting new benchmarks in public infrastructure development.
He noted that the state has successfully created iconic institutions that combine functionality, aesthetics and modern engineering.
Citing the magnificent Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly and the impressive High Court complex, he said these landmark structures have earned widespread appreciation for their design, utility and symbolic significance.
He emphasised that such world-class infrastructure reflects the state’s growing aspirations and commitment to good governance, while also showcasing Arunachal Pradesh’s emergence as a progressive and forward-looking state in the country.
Congratulating the entire Lok Bhavan fraternity, the Chief Minister said that Lok Bhavan has emerged as a vibrant institution that connects people across regions, communities and cultures. He noted that it has consistently served as a common platform fostering unity, understanding and a shared sense of belonging.
Describing Lok Bhavan as a symbol of inclusiveness and people-centric governance, the Chief Minister said that it has successfully bridged geographical distances and cultural diversity, creating opportunities for dialogue, mutual respect and collective progress.
The new Governor Secretariat building, constructed at Rs 10.90 crore, was built by the Public Works Department (PWD). The Secretariat building is equipped with CCTV-based security surveillance, ensuring comfort, accessibility and safety, while enhancing service delivery and administrative efficiency.
