ISI-backed Shahzad Bhatti terror network dismantled ahead of Independence Day, Centre says

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said security forces had dismantled the ISI-backed Shahzad Bhatti Network ahead of Independence Day, foiling its alleged plans for subversive attacks. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, a coordinated crackdown across 14 states on August 12 led to 253 detentions, with more than 80 FIRs registered and over 200 arrests linked to the network. Authorities said they recovered IEDs, grenades bearing Pakistan Ordnance Factory markings, pistols, ammunition and CCTV cameras allegedly used for surveillance. The government described the Shahzad Bhatti Network as a Pakistan-based terror syndicate allegedly involved in grenade attacks, IEDs, petrol bomb attacks and targeted killings. The crackdown comes amid separate investigations into suspected Pakistan-linked espionage networks, including recent arrests in West Bengal and Karnataka.
