India and Denmark are exploring ways to strengthen their partnership in offshore wind energy, green hydrogen and renewable power integration. The discussions took place during Danish Minister for Business and Competitiveness Martin Lidegaard's visit to New Delhi on Tuesday. Lidegaard met Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi to discuss opportunities for expanding cooperation in clean energy technologies and improving renewable energy integration into electricity networks. The two countries have been working together in the energy sector for nearly 30 years, beginning with Danish support for establishing India's National Institute of Wind Energy in Chennai. India currently has nearly 60 GW of installed wind energy capacity. During the visit, Lidegaard also inaugurated Denmark's country session at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026. Discussions focused on energy security, technological innovation and accelerating the global green transition. An International Energy Agency report on India's renewable energy market, supported by Denmark, was also launched. India's renewable energy capacity has quadrupled over the past decade to exceed 300 GW. Lidegaard also participated in the 9th General Assembly of the International Solar Alliance, where Denmark continues to support solar energy development and capacity-building initiatives. The Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026 is taking place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from November 2 to 5, alongside the ISA Assembly and the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen.
