Hillary Clinton Says India and China Could Play Key Roles in Resolving West Asia Conflict

Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said India and China could play a key role in helping resolve the ongoing West Asia conflict if US President Donald Trump chooses diplomacy over confrontation. Speaking to C-SPAN, Clinton pointed to India and China’s significant energy ties with Iran, saying their economic influence could help persuade Tehran to ease tensions and reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. She particularly highlighted China’s influence as one of Iran’s biggest oil and gas buyers. Clinton suggested Washington could work with Beijing to encourage Iran to return to negotiations. Her comments come amid fresh US sanctions on Iran and growing tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy route through which around one-fifth of the world’s energy supplies normally pass.
