Suspected Pakistani Drones Spotted Along IB and LoC in Jammu and Kashmir; Search Operations Launched

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified vigilance and launched extensive search operations after suspected drones believed to have crossed over from Pakistan were spotted along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC). According to officials, drone-like aerial objects with blinking lights were observed briefly entering Indian airspace in multiple forward areas before returning towards the Pakistan side. The sightings were reported from several districts, including Samba, Rajouri and Poonch, triggering a high alert among Army and paramilitary units deployed along the sensitive border zones.
In the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district, troops opened fire after noticing suspicious drone movement over nearby villages. Similar aerial activity was reported in areas of the Ramgarh sector in Samba district and the Mankote sector along the LoC. Security personnel were immediately mobilised to track possible landing spots and prevent any hostile action. Following the sightings, coordinated ground search operations were launched across the affected areas to check for potential airdrops of weapons, ammunition or narcotics. Officials said no recoveries had been confirmed at the time of reporting, but search operations remain ongoing.
The incident comes amid growing concerns over the use of drones for cross-border smuggling and infiltration attempts. In recent years, security agencies have repeatedly intercepted arms and contraband allegedly dropped by drones originating from across the border. Authorities have said investigations are underway to ascertain the nature and intent of the suspected drone activity. Security forces remain on heightened alert as surveillance and counter-drone measures continue along the IB and LoC.
