A grand event celebrating Boman Irani’s scriptwriting platform “Spiral Bound” brought together several prominent film personalities, including Javed Akhtar, Anupam Kher, Aamir Khan, and Archana Puran Singh. The gathering marked a significant milestone for the platform, which is also preparing to collaborate with Russia-based production house Moscow Cluster later this year.

Speaking to the media, Irani highlighted the long-standing cultural and cinematic ties between India and Russia. He recalled how legends like Raj Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty enjoyed immense popularity in Russia, often promoting and shooting films there. He described the upcoming collaboration as a new chapter, opening opportunities for filmmakers from both countries to work across borders. Irani also revealed that three top winners from the platform will travel to Moscow, where they will explore advanced film studios and participate in workshops. He plans to conduct sessions there as well, offering hands-on guidance to aspiring writers.

Praising Irani’s initiative, Akhtar described him as a highly credible figure in the industry, noting that the platform reflects his genuine intent to support and inspire new talent. Meanwhile, Kher expressed confidence that Spiral Bound has evolved into a major movement for writers since its inception during the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that many future screenplays in Indian cinema could come from students trained under Irani.

According to Irani, the idea for Spiral Bound took shape during the pandemic when he began mentoring writers over phone calls. A suggestion to move these sessions online eventually led to the creation of a structured platform, which has now grown into a thriving community for aspiring storytellers.
