Sonia and Rahul to participate in CWC meeting in Ahmedabad on April 8, says Gujarat Congress chief

Senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, will attend the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Ahmedabad on April 8, Gujarat Congress chief Shaktisinh Gohil announced on Friday. The meeting will be held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial in Shahibaug at 11:30 am. It will be attended by key leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states, and state party presidents. This gathering marks an important event for the party’s leadership ahead of the upcoming elections.
Following the CWC meeting, a session of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) will take place on April 9 at Sabarmati Riverfront. Nearly 3,000 delegates from across the country are expected to participate in the session, which will focus on key political issues. After the April 8 meeting, senior leaders will visit Sabarmati Ashram to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and take part in a prayer meeting. This visit holds symbolic significance as the Congress has often linked its ideology to Gandhian principles.
In 2019, the CWC had also met at the same venue ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, making this meeting a continuation of a strategic tradition. The Congress has stated that the AICC session will deliberate on the challenges posed by the BJP’s "anti-people" policies, its alleged "attack" on the Constitution, and the party’s roadmap for the future. The gathering is expected to address pressing political matters, shape the party’s election strategy, and unify its leadership ahead of key electoral battles.
