Popular singer Kailash Kher visited the revered Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday and took part in the sacred Bhasma Aarti ritual. Photos and videos from the temple showed the singer immersed in devotion as he offered prayers to Lord Mahakal and experienced the spiritual atmosphere of the shrine.
Kailash Kher shared his deep emotional connection with the temple and even sang a devotional song dedicated to Mahadev. He said that every visit to Mahakaleshwar feels like a divine calling. “Whenever I come here, it feels as though Mahadev himself has invited me. No matter where I travel across the world, I eventually feel drawn back here. There is a unique spiritual energy in this place. I pay my respects to India’s traditions, spirituality, and culture,” the singer said.
Kailash Kher also posted moments from his temple visit on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse of the spiritual experience. Situated in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, the Mahakaleshwar Temple is among the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva and remains one of the country’s most visited pilgrimage destinations. Every year, thousands of devotees, including celebrities and prominent personalities, visit the temple to seek blessings.
One of the temple’s most important rituals is the famous Bhasma Aarti, performed during the early hours of Brahma Muhurta between 3:30 am and 5:30 am. The ritual draws huge crowds who gather to witness the sacred ceremony. The process begins with the opening of the temple doors before dawn, followed by the ceremonial bathing of the deity using Panchamrit — a holy mixture containing milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar.
After the purification ritual, the idol is decorated with sandalwood paste and other offerings before the Bhasma Aarti and dhoop-deep rituals are performed amid devotional chants. The sound of drums and conch shells fills the temple complex, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere for devotees.
