Shia Religious Body Condemns Atrocities Against Hindu Minorities in Bangladesh

A prominent Shia religious organisation in India has strongly condemned recent acts of violence and alleged atrocities against Hindu minority communities in Bangladesh, urging authorities to take decisive action to protect vulnerable populations and uphold human rights. In a formal statement issued by the organisation’s leadership, the Shia body expressed deep concern over a series of violent incidents in Bangladesh, including the lynching and killing of Hindu individuals in different parts of the country. The statement described the attacks as “shocking and unacceptable” and called for justice for the victims and their families.
The religious group emphasised that violence against any community on the basis of religion is a violation of basic human rights and runs counter to principles of peace, tolerance and coexistence. It criticised the failure of local authorities to prevent such attacks and stressed that minority communities must be safeguarded by the rule of law. The statement also highlighted the organisation’s solidarity with religious minorities everywhere and reiterated its commitment to promoting interfaith harmony and mutual respect. Leaders said they stand with those affected by violence in Bangladesh and urged the government there to thoroughly investigate the incidents and prosecute the perpetrators without delay.
Religious representatives at the event reiterated the importance of collective responsibility among all faith communities to speak out against injustice and discrimination, and to work together to build societies free from fear and persecution. The condemnation by the Shia body reflects growing concern among civil society groups and religious organisations across the region about the safety and treatment of minority populations in Bangladesh amid social and political tensions. The organisation said it would continue to advocate for peace and justice and encouraged other faith groups to join efforts in raising awareness about minority rights and the need for protective measures.
