Samsung halts global release of One UI 7 update due to reported bug

Samsung has temporarily halted the global rollout of its One UI 7 update, which began last week with flagship devices like the Galaxy S24 series. Although the company has confirmed this decision, it has not officially explained the cause behind the pause. In a statement to Android Authority, Samsung said the move was aimed at ensuring the “best possible experience” for users and that a new rollout date would be announced soon.
Reports from several tech insiders suggest that a serious bug was discovered on South Korean units during the initial update process. While the issue appeared to be localized, Samsung chose to suspend the rollout worldwide as a precautionary measure, indicating a strong commitment to quality control and user satisfaction.
One UI 7 is designed to bring Android 15 to existing models such as the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Android 15 includes a variety of advanced AI features and system improvements. The rollout officially began on April 7, though it was already delayed compared to the typical update timeline—Android 15 was first released to developers over seven months ago.
Importantly, Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy S25 series comes preloaded with One UI 7, meaning these devices are not affected by the paused update and will continue to operate normally with the latest software. Looking ahead, Android 16 is expected to be introduced by Google in June, potentially shifting the focus of software updates even further. For now, users of eligible Samsung devices will need to wait for the revised launch of One UI 7 while the company works to resolve the reported issues. Samsung has not provided an exact timeframe for when the update will resume, but more information is expected in the coming weeks.
