After four memorable years at Haji Lane, Rumi’s The Poet’s Cup is saying farewell. The café, loved for its cozy ambiance, live music, and game nights, shared the news on Instagram on Sunday (March 9). Its final day of operations is set for March 30. “Rumi was never just a café; it was a haven, all because of you,” the heartfelt post read. “Though this chapter is ending, the memories we’ve created will forever stay in our hearts.” While the closure marks the end of an era, Rumi’s hinted at the possibility of reopening elsewhere if the opportunity arises. “This isn’t a goodbye, it’s a see-you-later,” the post concluded.
The café didn’t specify the reason for its closure, leaving fans curious. AsiaOne has reached out for further details. Rumi’s The Poet’s Cup has been a staple for artisanal drinks and indulgent desserts, including brownies, waffles, and ice cream. The Muslim-owned business first gained recognition in 2018 through pop-up events like Twilight: Flea & Feast. Encouraged by the positive response from customers, the team opened their physical store at Haji Lane in December 2021.
Since then, it has become a favorite hangout spot for locals and visitors alike. The café's creative menu, welcoming vibe, and memorable events helped establish it as more than just a place for coffee—it became a community hub. Although its closure leaves a gap in Haji Lane’s bustling scene, fans of Rumi’s are hopeful for its return in a new location someday. For now, the memories made at The Poet’s Cup will live on, and its legacy as a gathering spot will not be forgotten.
