Producer Dinesh Vijan and actor Rajkummar Rao are set to collaborate once again for their upcoming film Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced that the movie is scheduled to hit theatres on August 7, 2026. The film is being described as an intense and impactful drama inspired by real incidents that deeply affected the nation. Directed by Avinash Arun, the project features Rajkummar Rao in the lead role alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, Sikander Kher, and Jaideep Ahlawat in important parts.

Produced under the Maddock Films banner, Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story is expected to be one of the production house’s major releases. Rajkummar Rao recently opened up about the physical transformation he underwent for the role. The actor shared that he gained nearly 9 to 10 kilograms to fit the character’s appearance. He revealed that his diet during preparation included pizzas, sweets, aloo parathas, and biryani.

Talking about his approach to acting, Rao said he prefers transforming himself naturally instead of relying heavily on prosthetics. Reflecting on his earlier projects, he mentioned the drastic changes he made for films like BOSE, TRAPPED, and SRIKANTH, including weight fluctuations, thinning his hair, and staying in character even off-camera.

Rao said he intentionally stayed away from anything glamorous to fully immerse himself in the role and hoped audiences would appreciate the effort after watching the film. Over the years, Dinesh Vijan and Rajkummar Rao have delivered several successful films together, including Stree, Made in China, Hum Do Hamare Do, and Bhool Chuk Maaf. Rao also made a special appearance in Vijan’s directorial film Raabta in 2017, where he played an elderly tribal man.

Dinesh Vijan is also busy with another upcoming project titled Eetha, directed by Laxman Utekar. The film stars Shraddha Kapoor in a strong lead role along with Randeep Hooda and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub in key characters. Backed by Maddock Films, Eetha is slated for a theatrical release on August 28, 2026, during the Raksha Bandhan weekend.
