Rahul Gandhi stated that the BJP has entirely undermined incentives for manufacturing in India.

The Congress party on Tuesday released a video of Rahul Gandhi from his visit to a BMW manufacturing facility in Germany, where he discussed the worldwide transformation in mobility, India’s untapped manufacturing potential, and the urgent need for a new development model centered on production and employment.
In the video shared on X, Gandhi noted that BMW, like many global automakers, is navigating the shift from traditional internal combustion engines to electric vehicles — a change that is fundamentally reshaping industries across the world. He pointed to China’s rapid progress in electric mobility, saying this transition has given the country a significant competitive advantage. Referring to India’s position, Gandhi said nations with large-scale infrastructure still to be built, such as India, have a unique opportunity to pursue innovative development paths. He emphasized that India’s scale and growth potential could allow it to do “remarkable things” if guided correctly.
Criticizing the BJP-led central government, Gandhi alleged that its policies have weakened manufacturing and concentrated economic power in the hands of a few major corporate groups. He argued that large-scale job creation in India is only possible through a strong manufacturing sector. According to him, several large business houses are more focused on trading than producing goods, which has increased India’s reliance on imports — especially from China.
Gandhi remarked that most everyday products used in India are now manufactured in China, calling this dependence a serious concern. He stressed that India already has the population, resources, and cost advantages needed to become a global manufacturing powerhouse. Speaking at the Hertie School in Berlin during his visit to Germany, Gandhi called for a new model of economic growth — one that places production at its core while also respecting democratic values, protecting the environment, and ensuring social inclusion. He said that India’s future development must not only generate prosperity but also uplift marginalized communities and promote sustainable progress.
