Pune Fort Murder Case: Wedding Could Have Been Cancelled, Why Kill My Son? Says Victim s Father

Grief and anger continue to surround the shocking Lohagad Fort murder case, with the father of victim Ketan Agarwal questioning why his son was allegedly killed instead of simply being told that the marriage was off. Speaking after the arrest of Ketan's fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, Ketan's father Vishal Agarwal said the family would have accepted the cancellation of the wedding if Siya did not wish to go ahead with it. According to him, there was no reason for the situation to end in violence.
Ketan Agarwal, a Pune-based businessman, died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18 during a trek with his fiancée. The incident was initially treated as an accidental fall. However, a subsequent police investigation allegedly uncovered a planned conspiracy behind his death. Investigators claim that Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were in a relationship and viewed Ketan as an obstacle to their future together. Police allege that the duo conspired to eliminate him and carried out the plan during the trek at the historic fort near Pune.
According to Vishal Agarwal, neither he nor his family were aware of any alleged relationship between Siya and Chetan. He said Ketan had occasionally expressed concerns about Siya's phone being constantly busy, but the family never suspected a deeper issue. Wedding preparations were reportedly underway, with the marriage scheduled for later this year.
Police investigations reportedly relied on CCTV footage, call records and witness statements to piece together the events leading up to Ketan's death. Authorities have alleged that the murder was premeditated and that multiple attempts may have been made before the fatal incident on June 18.
The case has drawn widespread attention across the country due to the nature of the allegations and the involvement of people close to the victim. Both accused are currently facing charges as the investigation continues. Ketan's family has demanded strict punishment for those responsible, maintaining that a simple decision to end the relationship would have prevented the tragedy that has devastated their lives.
