President Droupadi Murmu extended a warm welcome to Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, during his visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. In a special gesture, she greeted him in front of the iconic Rampurva Bull at the steps of the Rashtrapati Bhavan forecourt. The visit marked an important milestone in the deep-rooted and historical ties between India and Qatar.

To honor the Amir, President Murmu hosted a grand banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan, attended by key dignitaries, including Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and a high-level delegation from Qatar. During the banquet, President Murmu spoke about the long-standing relationship between the two nations and expressed her satisfaction with the strengthening of their strategic partnership.

In a post on X, Rashtrapati Bhavan described the occasion as a "warm welcome for a special friend," highlighting the historic and cultural bonds between India and Qatar. The President emphasized that Qatar has been an integral part of West Asia’s trade and cultural linkages with India for centuries. She noted how traditional sailing vessels, known as 'Dhow,' facilitated exchanges of goods, traditions, and ideas, strengthening their shared heritage.

During his two-day visit, the Amir received a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, underscoring the significance of the diplomatic ties between the two countries. President Murmu expressed confidence that the visit would open a new chapter in the multifaceted relationship between India and Qatar.

The visit reflects India’s commitment to deepening its engagement with Qatar, a key partner in the Gulf region. With strong economic and cultural ties, both nations continue to enhance cooperation in trade, energy, investment, and strategic affairs.
