On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman condemned the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir during their co-chairing of the Strategic Partnership Council, which aims to strengthen the relationship between India and Saudi Arabia. Modi, who arrived in Jeddah for a two-day visit, delayed his meeting with the Crown Prince by two hours to assess the situation in Kashmir, where terrorists killed 26 people, mainly tourists, in the deadliest attack in the region since the 2019 Pulwama strike.

During their bilateral talks, Modi skipped an official dinner and decided to cut his visit short, returning to India on Tuesday night, a day earlier than planned. Modi was given a ceremonial welcome at the Al Salam Palace, where he was greeted by Crown Prince Mohammed with a warm hug, as shown in photos shared by the Saudi Press Agency. The leaders then held detailed talks and convened the Strategic Partnership Council, established during Modi's 2019 visit to enhance bilateral ties.

Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Suhel Ajaz Khan, mentioned that the meeting began with a reference to the tragic terror attack in India. Both leaders condemned the attack, with the Crown Prince offering condolences and support. India and Saudi Arabia continue to collaborate on counterterrorism efforts. Following the talks, India and Saudi Arabia signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs). This marks Modi's third visit to Saudi Arabia and his first to Jeddah.

Modi earlier expressed on X that the visit would further strengthen the friendship between the two countries. As a gesture of goodwill, the Prime Minister's aircraft was escorted by Saudi Royal Air Force F-15s, symbolizing deeper defense ties. Modi, who received Saudi Arabia's highest civilian honor in 2016, has referred to the Crown Prince as "my brother." Saudi Arabia is home to 2.7 million Indians, and Modi has previously described the kingdom as "one of India's most valued partners."
