Mohammad Tahir Anwar, the elder brother of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar, has died in Pakistan under circumstances that remain unclear, according to reports circulating through sources linked to the militant group. Anwar, who was believed to be closely associated with the activities of Jaish-e-Mohammed, reportedly passed away in Bahawalpur, a city known to be a stronghold of the organisation. However, no official statement has clarified the exact cause of his death, raising speculation around the circumstances.

The news of his death first surfaced through pro-Jaish communication channels, which also announced that his funeral prayers would be held at Jamia Masjid Usman Wali in Bahawalpur.  Tahir Anwar was considered an important figure within the group and had reportedly been involved in its operations for several years. His role added to the influence of the Azhar family within the organisation, which has long been accused of orchestrating terror activities, particularly targeting India.

The lack of transparency surrounding his death has sparked discussions, especially given a recent pattern of unexplained or unconfirmed incidents involving individuals linked to extremist groups in Pakistan. While some reports describe the death as “mysterious,” there has been no independent verification or confirmation from Pakistani authorities so far.

Jaish-e-Mohammed, led by Masood Azhar, has been designated as a terrorist organisation by multiple countries and has been linked to several high-profile attacks in India over the years. Anwar’s death could have implications for the internal dynamics of the group, though it remains unclear how significant his operational role was at the time of his passing.
