Amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the escalating Iran conflict, Iran’s top envoy in India has dismissed any role for Pakistan as a mediator and instead expressed support for India’s involvement in peace efforts. The Iranian envoy made it clear that Islamabad does not have a role in facilitating negotiations, countering recent claims of Pakistan positioning itself as a key intermediary in the conflict.

Instead, Tehran has signaled confidence in New Delhi’s potential to contribute constructively toward ending the war, highlighting India’s diplomatic credibility and balanced approach in international affairs. The remarks come at a time when multiple countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt, have been attempting to broker a ceasefire between Iran and its adversaries. However, several of these efforts have struggled to gain traction, with negotiations repeatedly stalling and Iran rejecting certain proposals.

Iran has also previously denied participating in Pakistan-led mediation initiatives, further reinforcing its position that Islamabad’s role in the peace process is limited or non-existent.  India, on the other hand, has maintained communication with key stakeholders and has advocated for dialogue and de-escalation. Analysts suggest that India’s neutral stance and strong ties across regions could make it a viable partner in diplomatic efforts.

The development reflects shifting dynamics in regional diplomacy, where competing claims over mediation roles are emerging even as the urgency to end the conflict grows. With the situation remaining volatile, the focus is now on whether broader international coordination—including India’s involvement—can help break the deadlock and pave the way for a lasting resolution.
