India and Afghanistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, with both sides reviewing a wide range of issues during the fourth meeting of the India-Afghanistan Joint Committee in New Delhi. The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in humanitarian assistance, development, trade, education, healthcare, agriculture, and regional connectivity. The meeting brought together senior officials from India's Ministry of External Affairs and Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reflecting the continued engagement between the two countries despite changing regional dynamics.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), both delegations reviewed the progress of ongoing cooperation and explored new opportunities to deepen ties in sectors that directly benefit the people of Afghanistan. India reiterated its long-standing commitment to supporting Afghanistan's welfare and development through people-centric initiatives.

During the talks, the two sides discussed humanitarian assistance, food security, capacity building, healthcare, education, sports, visa facilitation, trade, and infrastructure development. Officials also exchanged views on improving regional connectivity and enhancing economic cooperation, areas seen as vital for Afghanistan's long-term recovery and growth.

The Afghan delegation expressed appreciation for India's continued support in humanitarian and development efforts. Over the years, India has emerged as one of Afghanistan's key development partners, contributing to projects in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and community welfare. Agriculture also featured prominently in the discussions, coinciding with the visit of Afghanistan's Agriculture Minister to India. Both countries explored ways to strengthen cooperation in the sector, with a focus on improving food security and supporting sustainable agricultural development.

The meeting comes at a time when New Delhi has maintained its policy of engaging with Afghanistan through humanitarian and developmental initiatives. While political developments in the country continue to evolve, India has consistently emphasized that its assistance is aimed at improving the lives of the Afghan people. Officials from both sides agreed to continue regular consultations through institutional mechanisms and maintain close coordination on issues of mutual interest. They also decided that the next meeting of the Joint Committee would be held at a mutually convenient date.

The latest round of talks underscores the importance both countries attach to maintaining constructive engagement. Analysts believe that sustained dialogue, coupled with cooperation in trade, healthcare, education, and connectivity, could help strengthen bilateral relations while contributing to Afghanistan's development and regional stability. With both nations reaffirming their commitment to welfare-driven cooperation, the meeting signals a shared intent to build on longstanding ties and pursue practical partnerships that deliver tangible benefits for the people of both countries.
