Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday chaired a review of the Export Promotion Mission and related initiatives, aiming to strengthen implementation, improve coordination among stakeholders, and build better monitoring systems to boost India’s exports. He said the discussions focused on sharper execution, stronger collaboration, and improved tracking, along with greater emphasis on MSMEs, agricultural exports, and promoting Brand India.

The meeting highlighted the need to make export policies more effective at the ground level, ensuring they deliver real results rather than remaining on paper. Goyal also pointed to the importance of identifying key sectors and building capacity to accelerate export growth. Strengthening skills and resources for businesses and stakeholders was seen as essential for expanding exports in a structured manner. Improving monitoring mechanisms for timely progress tracking under the mission was another key focus.

The minister reviewed ways to strengthen the Government e-Marketplace platform as a driver of transparent, competitive, and inclusive public procurement. Discussions centered on improving India’s procurement system through digital tools, better price discovery, and broader participation from vendors. Goyal emphasized the role of technology in making procurement more efficient and accessible.

The meeting also stressed empowering MSMEs, startups, and women entrepreneurs by increasing their participation in public procurement, noting that this would support economic growth and nation-building. Overall, both meetings reflected the government’s continued push to enhance trade promotion and procurement systems through inclusivity, transparency, and technology-driven efficiency, with a strong focus on export-led growth.
