The five-day Budget session of the Delhi Assembly commenced on Monday with a traditional 'Kheer' ceremony, with BJP leaders highlighting that "sweetness symbolizes progress." Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also oversees the finance portfolio, is set to present the first budget of a BJP-led Delhi government in over 26 years.

During the ceremony, Minister Kapil Mishra underscored the historical significance of the budget session, stating that individuals from various backgrounds—including businessmen, auto drivers, and members of the Dalit community—would come together to share 'Kheer.' He confirmed that the budget would be presented the following day.

BJP leader Satish Upadhyay conveyed his best wishes to the chief minister, emphasizing that the budget represents Delhi’s progress. He noted that CM Gupta had actively engaged with diverse groups, including women, youth, business owners, and residents of various colonies, to incorporate their suggestions into the budget.

"Sweetness signifies progress. The chief minister's gesture sends a clear message that Delhi's development is on the right path. This budget captures the voices of women, young people, entrepreneurs, and residents, ensuring inclusivity in governance. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are dedicated to achieving holistic growth," he stated. The BJP reclaimed power in Delhi after 26 years, securing victory over AAP in last month’s Assembly elections.
