The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued fresh summons to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and former Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets case involving ₹35.79 crore. According to reports, Vijayabaskar has been asked to appear before the ED's Chennai zonal office on November 6. His wife, V Ramya, has also reportedly been summoned for questioning on a separate date.

The case relates to allegations that Vijayabaskar accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income while serving as Tamil Nadu's Health Minister between 2016 and 2021 under the AIADMK government. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) registered a case against the former minister in 2021. In its chargesheet filed in May 2023, the state agency reportedly estimated the alleged disproportionate assets at around ₹35.79 crore.

The ED subsequently launched a money laundering investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to examine the financial transactions and assets allegedly linked to the case. As part of its investigation, ED officials conducted searches at Vijayabaskar's residence in Illuppur, Pudukkottai district, in March 2024. The agency had also questioned the former minister and his wife during an earlier round of investigation.

Vijayabaskar, who previously served as a prominent minister in the AIADMK government, is now associated with actor Vijay-led TVK. He currently serves as the party's Pudukkottai district organisational secretary. The fresh summons indicate that the ED's investigation into the alleged financial irregularities is continuing. The agency is expected to question the couple about financial transactions, property holdings and the sources of funds under scrutiny. The allegations against Vijayabaskar have not been established in court, and the investigation remains ongoing.
