Security arrangements were strengthened in parts of Delhi on Friday ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) proposed ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march, as party founder Abhijeet Dipke expressed concerns that he could be detained by police again. The proposed demonstration was scheduled to take place at Central Park in Connaught Place amid restrictions on public gatherings and heightened security in the area. The developments have brought renewed attention to the party’s campaign and its dispute with the authorities over the planned protest.

Dipke alleged that police personnel were monitoring his movements and indicated that he expected possible action ahead of the march. However, his claims about surveillance and the possibility of detention had not been independently verified. Authorities stepped up security around Connaught Place to maintain public order and prevent disruptions. Central Park was scheduled to remain closed to the public on October 16 and 17, according to reports. Delhi Police also urged people not to join the proposed gathering, citing restrictions applicable to the area. Officials indicated that a limited gathering to wave the national flag and sing the national anthem could be considered at an appropriate location, subject to the necessary permissions.

The CJP’s march follows the reported detention of party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after an earlier demonstration in Delhi. The party has raised concerns about their treatment and has demanded action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The campaign is also linked to allegations of irregularities in electoral rolls during the voter-list revision process. Critics have questioned the deletion of voters’ names and its potential impact on electoral fairness, while allegations of political bias have been disputed by the Election Commission.

Dipke has maintained that the campaign is intended to assert the right to display the national flag and draw attention to the party’s demands. His remarks have added to the uncertainty surrounding the proposed march, particularly over whether the demonstration will proceed at the announced venue or whether authorities will permit an alternative location.

The security arrangements could also affect commuters, shoppers and businesses in Connaught Place, one of the capital’s busiest commercial districts. Visitors have been advised to check official traffic advisories before travelling to the area, as restrictions and diversions may change depending on the situation. The situation remains fluid, with attention focused on the CJP’s next move and the response from Delhi Police. As of the time of writing, Dipke’s anticipated detention had not been confirmed, and further developments regarding the march were awaited.
