CJP Dismisses Rift Rumours as Mohammad Junaid Says Leadership Continues to Support Him

Mohammad Junaid, a volunteer who emerged as one of the prominent faces of the recent Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, has dismissed speculation about differences with the organisation, saying the party leadership continues to stand firmly behind him. The clarification comes after several social media posts claimed that Junaid had been sidelined by the party following the conclusion of the agitation. Some online users alleged that he had been excluded from party events and was no longer in touch with senior leaders, fuelling rumours of an internal rift.

Responding to the claims in a video message, Junaid urged supporters not to believe what he described as "fake rumours." He said both he and his family were safe and insisted that the party's top leadership remained in constant contact with him. He also alleged that attempts were being made to create divisions within the movement through misinformation, calling on people to avoid sharing unverified content on social media.

The Cockroach Janta Party also issued a statement rejecting reports of any fallout with Junaid. Party spokesperson Ratna Singh said the volunteer was safe, receiving legal assistance and had attended a volunteers' gathering after the protest concluded. "We have always treated Junaid with respect and will continue to stand by him, as we do with all our volunteers," the party said, while urging people not to spread misleading information.

The rumours surfaced just days after Junaid claimed that Uttar Pradesh Police had raided his residence in Ghaziabad and detained members of his family because of his involvement in the protest movement. The CJP had strongly criticised the alleged police action and said it was extending legal support to him. However, police denied detaining any of Junaid's relatives.

Junaid became widely known during the nationwide protest after voluntarily arranging free food and drinking water for demonstrators at Jantar Mantar. His humanitarian efforts earned him widespread appreciation on social media and made him one of the movement's most recognisable grassroots volunteers.

The latest clarification appears to have put an end to speculation over his relationship with the organisation, with both Junaid and the CJP reiterating that there are no differences between them. The development comes at a time when the party is also pressing the government to honour commitments made during talks that led to the suspension of its nationwide agitation.
