Bangladesh delivered a dominant performance to defeat Pakistan by eight wickets in the opening One Day International (ODI), as the visitors slumped to their lowest-ever total against the hosts.

Playing at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, Pakistan’s batting line-up crumbled under pressure and was bowled out for just 114 runs, marking a record low score in ODIs against Bangladesh.

The standout performer of the match was Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana, who produced a sensational spell, claiming five wickets for just 24 runs. His relentless pace and accuracy dismantled Pakistan’s batting order, leaving them with little chance to recover.

Pakistan’s innings started on a steady note but quickly unraveled after early breakthroughs.  including Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha, failed to anchor the innings, while only Faheem Ashraf offered some resistance with a modest contribution.

In response, Bangladesh chased down the modest target with ease, reaching 115 for 2 in just 15.1 overs. Opener Tanzid Hasan led the charge with an unbeaten 67, supported by Najmul Hossain Shanto, as the hosts wrapped up the match in emphatic fashion.

The comprehensive victory gives Bangladesh a 1–0 lead in the three-match ODI series and highlights their growing dominance at home. For Pakistan, the defeat raises serious concerns about batting consistency and team stability, particularly against disciplined bowling attacks.

With the series still underway, Pakistan will need a strong comeback to avoid further embarrassment, while Bangladesh will look to build on this commanding start and seal the series early.
