Arunachal Pradesh has experienced rapid development since 2016, says CM Khandu.

Arunachal Pradesh has seen significant development since 2016, driven by the government’s focus on "reformation, performance, and transformation," Chief Minister Pema Khandu said. Speaking at a development meeting in Shergaon, West Kameng district, on Sunday, Khandu highlighted major progress in areas such as GSDP, state budget, per capita income, GST collection, and state-owned resources since taking office. He noted a 135% rise in GSDP, with the state budget increasing from ₹12,500 crore in 2016 to over ₹40,000 crore in 2025.
Comparing figures from 2016 to 2025, he reported a 105% growth in per capita income, a 584% surge in GST collection, and an increase in state-owned resources from ₹900 crore to over ₹40,000 crore. Expressing gratitude to stakeholders, including cabinet members, MLAs, panchayat representatives, and district officials, Khandu credited their collective efforts for the state’s progress. He also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to the Northeast’s development, emphasizing Arunachal Pradesh’s growing national importance due to its rapid advancements and strategic location.
Khandu underscored road connectivity as a key factor in the state’s growth, revealing a 251% expansion in rural roads and a 143% increase in National Highways since 2016. He highlighted the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Road Development Programme, which has significantly improved connectivity to previously isolated administrative centers and villages.
He also announced the central government’s approval of the realignment of the OKSRT (Orang-Kalaktang-Shergaon-Rupa-Tenga) road, cutting the Balemu-Kalaktang distance from 50 km to 19.2 km. Addressing local demands, he assured approval for the Shergaon to Mandala top road and a positive response to proposals for the Shergaon to Doimara road, water supply projects in Kalaktang and Rupa, and a stadium in Shergaon. On Sunday, Khandu inaugurated 14 projects worth ₹102 crore and laid the foundation for 21 new projects valued at ₹126 crore in the Kalaktang assembly constituency.
