Air India has announced the suspension of all its flights to Israel until May 31, citing ongoing security concerns in the region amid escalating tensions in West Asia.

The decision comes as the situation in and around Israel remains volatile due to the broader conflict linked to the 2026 Iran War, which has significantly disrupted airspace and aviation operations across the region.

According to reports, the suspension is expected to impact thousands of passengers, including nearly 40,000 Indian travellers who were either planning to visit Israel or return to India. Airlines have cited passenger safety as the primary reason for halting operations.

Air India has also introduced emergency support measures, including helplines and assistance for affected travellers. Passengers are being offered options such as rescheduling or refunds to minimise inconvenience.

The move is part of a wider trend in global aviation, as multiple international airlines have either suspended or adjusted their services to destinations in West Asia due to airspace closures and heightened security risks.

The disruption highlights the broader impact of geopolitical conflicts on international travel, with airlines forced to take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

Authorities continue to monitor the evolving situation, and the resumption of flights will depend on improvements in regional security conditions. Until then, travellers are being advised to stay updated with airline advisories and plan their journeys accordingly.
