Following the passage of the VB-G RAM G Bill, 2025 (Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin)), Congress Lok Sabha MPs will convene a meeting at the CPP Office at 10:30 am. The bill, which aims to replace MGNREGA, was approved by both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha today, despite Opposition protests and walkouts, with Congress demanding it be referred to a Select Committee.

Congress MP Manickam Tagore criticized the legislation, calling it “Modi’s bill” and alleging that Mahatma Gandhi’s name had been deliberately removed. He said, “From Lok Sabha to Rajya Sabha, this bill was bulldozed despite Opposition protests. Congress Lok Sabha MPs will meet at 10:30 AM at the CPP Office. We will go to the people. We will not tolerate any insult to Mahatma Gandhi.”

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan defended the bill, stating it will significantly benefit the poor, and accused Congress of disrespecting Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals. The legislation guarantees 125 days of wage employment per rural household for adult members willing to do unskilled manual work, up from the current 100 days.

Under Section 22, the fund-sharing pattern between the Centre and States will be 60:40, while for North Eastern States, Himalayan States, and Union Territories (Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir), it will be 90:10. Congress announced nationwide protests on December 17, accusing the BJP and RSS of attempting to “dismantle rights-based welfare.” The Lok Sabha had passed the bill on Thursday amid heavy protests and sloganeering from opposition members.
