Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi Inaugurates New North Jetty in Kochi

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi inaugurated the New North Jetty at the Naval Base in Kochi, Kerala. Spanning 300 meters in length and 18 meters in width, the jetty is designed to accommodate various classes of Naval ships and auxiliary vessels. The successful and timely completion of this project highlights India's indigenous engineering expertise, significantly enhancing the Indian Navy's ability to support and deploy major Naval combatants efficiently.

This development will provide greater operational flexibility and strengthen the country's maritime capabilities. The Southern Naval Command and the Indian Navy emphasized that this milestone project reflects the unwavering commitment and collaboration of all stakeholders involved. Earlier, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi expressed deep gratitude to the Navy's Veterans, acknowledging their selfless service, sacrifices, and pioneering contributions that laid the foundation for maritime excellence and operational preparedness. He praised their pivotal role in shaping a Combat Ready, Credible, Cohesive, and Future-Ready Indian Navy, as stated in a Navy PRO release.

As a mark of respect, Admiral Tripathi honored distinguished veterans, including Major General M Kesavan (Retd), a 1971 war hero who served in both the Indian Navy and the Indian Army, and Commander Idiculla Jose (Retd), a decorated communications expert and Indo-Pak war veteran. Their dedication continues to inspire generations of naval officers, serving as a guiding force in the Navy’s pursuit of excellence.

Additionally, Shashi Tripathi, President of the Navy Wives Welfare Association (NWWA), honored the Veer Naris, including Nalina Menon, wife of Late Vice Admiral K R Menon, and Sherly Varghese, spouse of Late Commander-at-Arms J Varghese. Their sacrifices were recognized, reaffirming the Navy’s commitment to supporting its extended family.

During an interactive session, Admiral Tripathi highlighted various welfare initiatives focused on improving the well-being of Veterans and their families, including healthcare, pensions, and rehabilitation programs. He assured them of the Indian Navy's continued support. The Naval Chief also shared his vision for the future of the Indian Navy, emphasizing innovation, strategic partnerships, maritime security, and unwavering commitment to protecting India’s maritime interests—Anytime, Anywhere, Anyhow.
