A devastating fire engulfed the Pulse nightclub in Kočani, North Macedonia, resulting in 59 fatalities and injuring 155 others. Authorities have detained approximately 20 individuals, including government officials and the nightclub's manager, amid suspicions of corruption and bribery related to the club's operations. The Interior Minister, Pance Toskovski, stated that the Pulse nightclub lacked a legal operating license, and investigations are underway to determine how it was allowed to function. The Pulse nightclub was previously a carpet warehouse and had been converted into an "improvised nightclub." Reports indicate that the venue was overcrowded, with attendance exceeding its capacity, and that there were significant breaches of fire safety regulations.
