US President Donald Trump has announced widespread tariffs on imports from various countries, declaring the move as the beginning of a "golden age" for America on what he termed “Liberation Day.” Starting at midnight local time, a 25% tariff will be imposed on all foreign-made vehicles.

Other imports will also face new tariffs: goods from the European Union will be subject to a 20% tariff, while those from the UK will incur a 10% tariff. Trump stated that countries would be charged “reciprocal tariffs” based on the rates they impose on US products, with a minimum threshold—referred to as a “baseline”—set at 10%.

Chinese imports will face a 34% tariff, while goods from India will be subject to a 26% tariff. Additionally, Trump announced that tariffs would be implemented not only to counter foreign duties on US goods but also to address what he described as "nonmonetary" trade barriers, including currency manipulation and the use of "pollution havens."
