South Korea's constitutional court has unanimously upheld the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol over his brief declaration of martial law last December, which threw the nation into political chaos. Yoon’s authority was initially suspended when parliament voted to impeach him on December 14. With the impeachment now confirmed, South Korea must hold a snap election within 60 days. Additionally, Yoon faces a separate insurrection charge, for which he will stand trial at a later date.
